Noga, SRO Message Corner I am sitting here writing this final newsletter of the year thinking how grateful I am for being our schools School Resource Officer. After retiring from the State Patrol, this new role has been a breath of fresh air and rewarding beyond belief. I will continue to take training this summer that is geared towards the role of a school resource officer. One class I am excited about will be one on adolescent mental health. I know that class, along with the two others, will make me better to serve all “my kids”, our schools, and our community. Thank you to the administrators, teachers, staff, and especially the kids for making me feel welcome in our schools this year. HAVE A GREAT SUMMER AND SEE YOU ALL NEXT YEAR! Shout Outs and Great Things Kids Are Doing I recently gave a good deeds certificates and gift cards to Cole and Jaelyn Jackson from Centauri High School for acts of great kindness that were brought to my attention. Cole placed himself in harm’s way to help a fellow student recently and was slightly injured as a result. Jaelyn showed true kindness and compassion for a student that goes to a different school. Message to the seniors To the graduating seniors of 2024. I just wanted to take a minute to tell you all CONGRATULATIONS! Your high school career started during the Covid pandemic, when things were still uncertain. On-line classes, face masks, and social distancing. Now most of that is in the past, just like your high school career will be. But you made it through all of it. As you look back now upon your high school journey be prideful. Prideful of being a Trojan, Falcon, or Mustang. Be proud of what you have accomplished. You have reached an important milestone in your life. You have made it and done something that some have chosen not to do. Your walk across the stage, to get your diploma handed to you, is something that no one can take away from you now. The knowledge you have gained and will take with you, will benefit you as you take the leap into your next journey. Whether you plan on going to college, a trade school, joining the military, going on a mission somewhere, or going into the work force, always remember to give it your all. Put forth a good effort every day, to accomplish what you set out to do. As you set out on this journey in life into adulthood, remember it will not always be an easy road. There will be potholes along the way. Just think of those as a lesson of what life is teaching. Don’t ever be afraid to try something and fail. Something can always be learned from that. Don’t always take the easy road. Make a path. Carve it out and make it to the top. Leave it for others to follow. If you get to the top, and it was not what you expected, that’s ok. Find a way down and make another. Life will be full of challenges, failures, and successes. All of them will make you into who you were made to become. I leave you with this. Never forget your roots. Always remember where you came from. Where you started your journey at. Thank those that have helped you and those that will along the way. Work hard to achieve your goals but have fun doing it. Laugh and spread joy. Don’t be afraid to cry in happiness or sorrow. Stop to enjoy the little things in life. It goes by faster than we like. You do not have to like everyone that comes into your life. But be nice. A simple word to someone can change their life. Be respectful and kind to others. It will come back to you. Pay it forward when you can. Be humble and kind to those you meet. Live your life to the fullest and be happy doing it. Go change the world!!!!

April Newsletter is out! Come pick up your copy at the school today and give a big shoutout to our students of the month! Havyn Gomez is an Empathetic Collaborator. She watches out for all her crewmates and makes sure they are safe. Havyn is the first person to check on someone when they get hurt. She will even stay with her crewmate until they are feeling better. Nicholas Mondragon is a Motivated Visionary. Nick serves as the captain of the Destination Imagination team. His leadership skills have grown. He makes sure that everyone is getting along and that work is still getting done. His motivation is contagious within his team. Kevyn Aragon is a Confident Critical Thinker. She has completed her CNA coursework and plans to take her board exam to become fully certified. She has also completed her internship at Dr. Sowards’ office and excelled in her College English coursework. “Rylan Trant is off to a strong start this baseball season leading Colorado 1A baseball in batting average and is in the top 5 for slugging, triples, and on-base percentage. From the mound he is in the top 15 for strikeouts in the state. Not only has he stood out on the field, he is a great team leader and excels in the classroom,” Coach Teddy Klinger said. Rylan also played varsity basketball and football this year.

March recap 8th Graders and their families visited Fort Lewis College as part of the counselors’ college tour series Mr. Mondragon works with his 1st graders using the Expeditionary Learning Modules during Skills Block. Elementary Destination Imagination team shows off their costumes at the Pueblo DI Regional Competition. 8th Grade students visted the Monte Vista Fish Hatchery as part of their career exploration. Other career exploration activities for elementary and middle school have included the Fort Garland Museum, ASU Geology Tour, and Creede Mining Museum. Every student progresses at their own pace, and each achievement, no matter how big or small, deserves recognition and celebration. Whether your child shows improvement in a particular subject, demonstrates problem-solving skills, or exhibits perseverance and determination during test preparation, these accomplishments are worthy of praise and encouragement. As parents and guardians, your support plays a crucial role in nurturing your child's confidence and motivation. Field Experiences CNA Clinicals 3 high school students, Kevyn Aragon, Nakyla Navares, and Luz Elena Parra Ramirez students eagerly completed their clinical rotations, marking a significant milestone in their healthcare education journey. With determination and dedication, they navigated through various healthcare settings, applying their theoretical knowledge to real-life situations under the supervision of Stephanie Kreps. Throughout their clinical experience, they demonstrated compassion, professionalism, and a commitment to providing quality patient care. Destination Imagination Champions Under coach Abby Rendon's guidance, The Amigos team placed 3rd in Destination Imagination regionals, securing their spot in the state finals. Their project, a pirate-themed trebuchet, impressed judges and competitors alike. With creativity and teamwork, they're now set to tackle the state competition with renewed determination. The winning team members included Jose Taylor, Mateo Pacheco, Nicholas Mondragon, Ernesto Quintana-Acosta, and Hagen Bradley. Las Chicas (Coach: Abby Rendon, Team Members: Jaylah Ruybal, Juliana Rendon, and Sophia Rendon) placed fourth and won the Spirit of DI award for their performance during the Instant Challenge. The Wonder Toads (Coach: Angie Mestas, Team Members: Rayden Casillas, CJ Pacheco, Kaitlynn Hudson, Addie Herrera, and Adele Rendon) also placed 4th place. Weight Training PE teacher and coach, Joe Guenther, led his weight lifting students from the classroom to the real-world setting of SLV Sports and Wellness. With a passion for fitness and education, Guenther empowered his students to apply their knowledge practically by crafting personalized workout routines for real-world clients. This immersive learning experience not only enriched the students' understanding of fitness training but also inspired them to pursue careers in the dynamic field of personal training and coaching.
