This weekend, our girls wrestling team made an impressive mark at the regional tournament, finishing 8th out of 15 teams. It was a hard-fought battle, and every girl gave it their all on the mat. Each of our athletes earned a placement, showcasing their skill, determination, and sportsmanship. The real highlight came when three of our wrestlers secured spots to advance to the state tournament, a well-deserved achievement. Their relentless effort and focus paid off, and we’re all incredibly proud of how far they’ve come! Learning in Action: An Invitation to See the Magic Dear South Conejos Families, I have to admit—I’ve been slacking on getting newsletters out! Not because there isn’t anything to share, but because we have been doing so many amazing things that it’s been hard to keep up. Our students and staff have been deeply engaged in learning, and I want to do a better job of making sure you see all the incredible work happening at South Conejos. One way you can stay connected is by checking out our EL Learning website: https://sites.google.com/southconejos.com/scsd-el-learning/home. This site highlights how Expeditionary Learning (EL) in our school is making learning visible—moving beyond worksheets and traditional assignments to hands-on, engaging experiences that bring learning to life. At South Conejos, we focus on learning targets to ensure that students know what they are learning, why it matters, and how they can show success. Learning isn’t just about completing an assignment—it’s about growth, discovery, and creating something meaningful. We believe learning should be beautiful. From History Fair projects to dioramas, from interactive skits to observing math in action, our students are actively engaged in work that is rigorous, creative, and connected to the real world. I also want to extend an open invitation: If you’d like to join your student for a day of learning, we’d be happy to have you! Come see what active, engaged learning looks like and experience firsthand the incredible work our students and teachers are doing. I promise to be better at keeping you informed because there is so much to celebrate! Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to sharing more about the incredible learning happening in our school. Warmly, Maddie Mansheim Principal, South Conejos Schools
