Darlyene Garcia, our school secretary, has truly been the heartbeat of this campus. Every morning, she welcomed students with a warm smile and unmatched compassion. Her presence brought comfort, stability, and joy to everyone she encountered. Darlyene, thank you for being the face—and the heart—of our school.
David Jackson has been a constant force of support and leadership. He’s stepped up to coach multiple sports year after year, guiding students with patience, strength, and a true love for the game. David, your commitment has gone above and beyond, and we are grateful for everything you’ve poured into this community.
Maria Morales has spent 23 impactful years in our district, teaching both literacy and Spanish. Her work has not only educated minds but nurtured identities. Maria, your passion and your belief in your students have helped them grow in more ways than you’ll ever know.
And Johnny Martinez, our dedicated custodian for 32 years. Johnny, your work has been essential, your presence reassuring, and your heart generous. You've cared for this school like it was your own—and it was. Your legacy will shine in every hallway and classroom you touched.
To our departing staff members, as you move on to new opportunities and exciting adventures, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks for the dedication, care, and inspiration you’ve brought to our school community. You’ve played a vital role in shaping the lives of our students, and your impact will be felt long after you’ve moved on.

On May 12th, our school community gathered for a special evening to celebrate the accomplishments of our students at the annual High School Athletic and Academic Banquet. This year's event was our biggest yet, with an incredible turnout that truly reflected the pride and spirit of our school. It was a night filled with joy, recognition, and gratitude as we honored the hard work and dedication our students have shown throughout the school year, in both academics and athletics. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the parents, teachers, coaches, and staff whose support makes all the difference. Your commitment, time, and presence matter more than words can express. Showing up for our kids—whether in the stands, the classroom, or at events like this—reinforces the message that they are seen, valued, and believed in. This banquet was not just a celebration of achievement, but a reminder of how powerful a supportive community can be in helping our students thrive

From sprints to distance runs, jumps to throws, our students showed grit, growth, and great sportsmanship.
This meet marked the culmination of a season of hard work, and we couldn’t be prouder of how far our athletes have come. Their dedication and teamwork were on full display, and it was inspiring to see them finish strong. Congratulations to our track team on a great season!

On May 8, 2025, SCSD hosted the Spring Celebration of Learning and Family Game Night. Staff, Families, and Students enjoyed traditional board game challenges and walked the aisles of High Quality Student Work from grades K through 12. We appreciate all the support from the SCSD Staff and Families who came out to support the memorable event. A special highlight was seeing our upperclassmen step up to serve popcorn, root beer floats, and cookies, adding a sweet touch to the festivities.

This year’s Spring Concert at South Conejos School District on May 7th was nothing short of inspiring. Our students took the stage with confidence, showcasing not only their talent but the remarkable musical growth they’ve achieved over the school year. From heartfelt vocal performances to skillful instrumental pieces and even original student recordings, the evening was a powerful reminder of what passion and dedication can create.
A huge shout-out goes to our incredible music teacher, Mrs. Gettel, whose energy, creativity, and unwavering support have sparked a true love for music in our students. Her guidance has turned curiosity into confidence and helped each student find their voice—literally and figuratively. Thank you, Mrs. Gettel, for making music come alive in South Conejos!
