As we begin our final week of the school year, we would like to share several important announcements and upcoming events:
• Sophomore and junior students will complete the checkout process today. Once students have successfully completed checkout, they will be dismissed for the remainder of the week. Freshmen will complete checkout tomorrow.
• The Middle School Awards Ceremony will be held today at 1:00 p.m. in the Secondary Flex Area. Parents and guardians are warmly invited to attend.
• Elementary Field Day and Awards will take place on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Parents and guardians are welcome to attend. If you plan to attend Field Day, please check in at the front desk before going out to the field.
• On Wednesday, May 20, 2026, the school will have an early release at 2:00 p.m. Buses will depart campus at 2:05 p.m.
• The senior class will participate in the Candle and Rose Ceremony on Thursday, May 21, 2026, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
• The Senior Class graduation ceremony will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, we celebrated our seniors on their last day as they made their final walk through the halls. It was a special moment honoring all they have accomplished. Congratulations, Class of 2026! We are proud of each and every one of you! 🎓
The South Conejos School Board of Education will hold a Regular Meeting on the 19th day of May 2026 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be conducted in the Secondary Flex area.
Our students had an amazing time at Blanca Vista Park in Alamosa, enjoying a day of paddleboarding, sunshine, and making great memories with friends. It was a great opportunity for students to get outdoors and try something new, all while celebrating the end of the school year. Thank you to everyone who helped make this trip a success!
The SCSD Spring Concert was a great showcase of our students' hard work, talent, and dedication! Thank you to everyone who came out to support our young musicians as they shared their performances with families and friends. A special thank you to our music teacher, Mrs. Gettel, for all of the time and effort she put into preparing students for such a great evening!
What a great night celebrating the hard work, determination, and accomplishments of our students at the Academic & Athletic Banquet! We are incredibly proud of all they have achieved this year, both in the classroom and in competition. Thank you to our students, staff, coaches, and families for making the evening so special. Congratulations to all of our award recipients!
On May 12, 2026, our Fifth Grade Crew participated in the Annual Fishing Expedition sponsored and organized by local Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW).
The fishing trip gave the students fun hands on learning experience where they learned about the different kinds of fish found in Colorado rivers, licensure to fish or hunt in Colorado, fishing safety, how to identify which fish are safe for "catch and release", and witnessed stocking the pond with new fish. The students were given a new fishing pole to keep after learning how to properly set up their fishing pole with hooks and bait. Students learned about the importance of fishing in history when ancestors had to hunt and fish for food to survive.
This annual learning expedition is always filled with excitement and the weather could not have been more perfect!
On behalf of the Antonito Senior Citizens Association, all community members are welcome to attend the 2026 Conejos County Candidate Meet and Greet at the Senior Center on May 16, 2026, from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm.

Our K-2 students rolled Into a new adventure with a Roller Skating Expedition. In a world where physical activity often competes with screens and sedentary lifestyles, introducing roller skating as part of students’ extracurricular activities can be a game-changer. The essence of roller skating goes beyond just learning to glide on wheels; it embodies the spirit of fun, camaraderie, and significant physical and mental benefits.
Staff/Family members and crew mates played a pivotal role in nurturing this sense of community, instilling an atmosphere of encouragement and support where students felt comfortable trying new things without fear of judgment.
